I photograph almost every makeup look I do. It's true, I just always think that it might make for a blog post at some point. Which, life being life, inevitably doesn't ever happen quite like that.
Sometimes I love a look but never get around to posting it in time, sometimes I do something for a holiday and then the look is sort of out of place by the time I could get around to posting it and sometimes it just didn't turn out quite the way I wanted and it seems like it's not good enough for a post.
These are some of those looks.
Purple rain, puuu-huuur-ple raaaain.... I bought these purple contact lenses last year during the Halloween season and recently thought that I wasn't using them enough. Why only wear them for costume looks, why not for fun? So I popped them in. And then I wanted everything to be purple! I just added mascara to the eyes and kept them pure, but wore MAC's Dirty Plum blush (one of my favourites, but I can't remember if it was a special edition blush or not...) on my cheeks and essence's purple lipstick from the Good Girl, Bad Girl LE on my lips.
This was done for this year's St. Patrick's Day. All the shadows are by Concrete Minerals, from which I'd just ordered during their clearance sale about two months ago. They are re-vamping their entire line and were selling off their current stock. I'd always wanted products of theirs and this was my chance to get some much-coveted items.
The shadows you see up there are Infinity, Living Dead and Blood and Guts.
And finally, just some disparate bits and pieces.
Top left: did this for a friend's birthday in December. I wasn't happy with the way the falsies looked, so it never made it on the blog. Bit of a shame, because the rest of the look was wicked.
Top middle: did this last week for a dinner with family. It looked quite striking but somehow, in my mind, it's not quite blog material... Weird, I know.
Top right: Soft shiny taupe. It was prettier in real life than what I could capture of it on camera, so I didn't think it deserved a whole separate blog post. Especially since it was only done to complete an experiment with foundations on my face.
Bottom: I ADORED how this looked in person. And then it went all sad trombone on me when I flipped through the pictures of it. This is the only pic that even comes close to doing the look justice (and that ain't sayin' much, lemme tell ya). I did this using a duochrome shadow from Illamasqua and some red on the outside. Sadly the Illamasqua shadow turned out to be camera shy. A real pity because when you see it live, it's the most beautiful thing ever. Since I did this look, it has become my ongoing mission to find a way to show you all this shadow (and others like it) on the blog in all their glory. You will know it when I succeed, trust me!
And that's all for now, folks! Stay beautiful, inside and out,
Anna
