It's been a very challenging two weeks for me, so today I'd like to just tone it down a little and share a few things as well as tie up some loose ends with the Lush Emotional Brilliance stuff.

Beauty blogger Fabienne from The Swiss Makeup Blog has posted her reviews on Lush's new cream eyeshadows and the gold eyeliner! Check out her entire blog here or just the Lush post here. Be advised that this blog is written in German! The basic gist on the products I didn't test, for you non-German speakers: The yellow eyeshadow held on well over a primer but faded in colour as the day wore on. Sad. The golden eyeliner however went on smoothly, opaque and didn't budge at all! Yay!

I've been thinking about foundation quite a lot lately. I seem to be one of the few beautistas who really, really hate it. I see a post in this blog's future about my alternatives to foundation! I do full faces of makeup regularly but I hardly ever use foundation. Or let's put it this way: I haven't used foundation all over my face in over a decade. Just a reminder: you don't necessarily need foundation to rock a full makeup look. It's not go big or go home when it comes to that. Sometimes, less is more!

I've been ill for the past two weeks and thus really unenthusiastic about creating new looks. I want to do it, but I just can't seem to find the energy and creativity. I'm hoping I'll feel better in the next few days and get back on that. I have a few looks I want to try, but they need a bit of experimenting! I'll be posting pics if they come out like I hope! The thing is, well-blended looks seem to flatter me the most but I keep craving more structured, geometric looks with cut creases and the like. I really want to find a way to make those work on me as well but that needs practice and means a lot of trial and error! Damn you, hooded lids!

Marilyn Monroe once said "Imperfection is beauty" and that actually resonated with me because I've recently discovered Lana Del Rey. Yes, I know, I'm quite late to that party. Lana Del Rey is a singer-songwriter and she's seriously one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I was watching her "Born to Die" video in which she wears fierce red lips during the church sequences. I noticed: her lips aren't perfectly symmetrical! She's got full, pouty, beautiful lips but when she wears a bright red, you really notice how her upper lip curves differently on each side. And you know what? It just makes her ten times more beautiful because it makes her interesting! I've always liked my lips (they're one of my few pretty features), but I secretly lamented that they weren't perfectly even. My upper lip has a slightly different curve on each side too. After seeing Lana's video, I felt really stupid for nitpicking on that little detail. She still looked stunning, even in that vibrant red which only accentuated the asymmetry. I realised I needed to stop worrying about that on me. To be fair, that asymmetry in my lips has never stopped me from rocking bright colours, but I still felt (deluded, much?) like there was room for improvement. Now I don't feel that way anymore. Isn't it weird, the things that can make you change your outlook? My lips are suddenly really beautiful!

Other than that, I'd like to say thank you to all the people who are reading this blog! There are a little more of you every day and I still get excited over every new view I see in my stats! If there is anything you are missing so far or you have any other type of request for posts, please let me know in the comments or via email!
.
Stay beautiful, inside and out,
Anna
Here's Lana's video for Born to Die, I am absolutely in love with this song (and the rest of the album) since I first heard it!
